INTERMEDIATE/ADVANDED LEVEL

Ground Grooves is a floorwork class emphasizing continuous and fluid movement from a methodical and safe approach. Designed for dancers with previous floorwork experience, this faster-paced workshop emphasizes movement quality and execution through longer sequences of movement.

Dancers can expect to gain:

-a deeper physical expression of floorwork texture, dynamics, and flow

-increased awareness of weight placement and its effect on spinal freedom and transitional clarity

-tools for developing a lush, spongy movement quality

-control and fluidity moving in and out of the floor

Dancers can expect to experience:

-a relaxed environment where everyone can participate with joy and curiosity

-ample personalized guidance

-connection with other dancers in a non-judgmental learning space

-a concentrated focus on movement concepts to improve efficiency and prevent injury

-low-impact alternatives that build towards more challenging movements

-guided written self-reflection

Sample Schedule  (Saturday is 12:30-18:30, Sunday is 15:30-20:30)

12:30-2:45 Warm-up and across the floor

2:45-3 Break

3-4 Lab: Embodying floorwork concepts though improvisation + Floor adagio

4-4:45 Lunch

4:45-6:30 Choreographic phrasework
